Less than 2 Months After Google Instant Was Launched, eMarketer’s Testing and Experimentation showed Positive Results For Pay Per Click Campaigns. The Test Resulted to More Impressions, More Clicks, and More Engagement…

The Positive!
Pay per Click Advertisers have something to be happy about. There are more impressions, more clicks and more engagement….. that is for shorter, “Broad” terms…
An Example of a short term is
“apartments”
An Example of a long term is
“apartments in Milton Canada”
Check out this Graph from Emarketer…

What this graph from eMarketer.com represents is that Google Instant has significantly increased the impressions of Short Term Words to About 9.5% and For Long Tailed Keywords 6.65%
In order to be qualified as an Impression in Google Instant, the person doing a search has to stay on the same page for about 3 seconds and that would be counted as 1 impression.
The Clicks also increased and this could translate to better Quality Score and thus result into lower Cost per click as shown in the graph.
But are they all positive? Not likely…
The Negative??
In this blog, Google Instant’s Impact was not favorable for their e-commerce site.
Because the site’s traffic relied heavily on Long-tailed keywords, they lost most of their traffic since people who are searching for the word “apartment” might click on the “Instant” results that was shown to them rather than typing a long term keyword like “apartment in milton”
Apparently, this has not helped websites who are targeting long tail keywords for their SEO campaigns. This is because Google Instant bury their site on more broader terms.**
**Disclaimer: Your Business Could have a Different Result With Google Instant. It May or May Not have a Positive or Negative Effect on your Business.
Google has definitely seen the impact of Google instant by “feeding” people what they are searching. And most often Google is right with the results it shows.
Google Instant has gained positive recommendations and applause from users worldwide, but from a web owner’s or business owner’s perspective it could be a different thing.
Conclusion:
Google Instant could have a different effects for your “niche” or it may not have an effect at all. What’s important to see is that there is significant evidence that short term or “broad” term keywords are getting most “clicks”, SEO-wise and PPC-wise.
The Need for a Search Engine Optimization and Pay per Click Advertising Strategy for your business is more obvious than ever….
You’ll want someone to find your business when they type in ”apartment house” rather than show up in the search results when they type “apartment house 2 bed room 1 bath“(long tail keyword) which obviously has little or no search volume…
